As a follow-up to our day-long Mental Health Summit in November, we launched a monthly series of Mental Health Seminars to continue the conversation about how to support our community’s health and wellbeing, addressing key topics and their intersection with mental health, including faith and spirituality, alcohol and drug use/abuse, and more.
Each month, Heels Care Network will host a virtual mental health seminar for students and employees that address the intersection of mental health with related topics such as faith, addiction/substance use, intimate partner violence, and vulnerable populations.
The initial seminar, Mental Health, Spirituality, and Faith: How Do They Connect?, was held on February 28. More than 85 attendees had the opportunity to listen, learn, and contribute thoughts and questions during the event. Campus religious leaders spoke about the intersection of spirituality and mental health, and the positive and negative impact of religious belief on students. Aaron Bachenheimer, Executive Director of Off-Campus Student Life and liaison to Carolina’s Campus Ministers, facilitated the dialogue. Panelist included:
Next month’s topic has not been announced, but it will once again be free for all interested students. Participants can RSVP through the Network's website and find other upcoming events.
