Parents Council Grants Award Spotlight: Stop the Bleed

On Friday, Feb. 25, the Parents Council Executive Committee met at the Stone Center Hitchcock Room to hear pitches from 11 grant award applicants. Twenty members fielded these 10-minute presentations, which included their pitch and time for a series of question and answers about their ideas. Ultimately, the Executive team was charged with discussing these in-depth with the goal of funding up to $50,000 in award funds for fiscal year 2023 (academic year 2022-2023).

Each year, the Parents Council Grant Awards Program provides funding to UNC student organizations and university offices to support new and innovative programs/events that benefit undergraduate students. Stop the Bleed is a new initiative that thought the help of a grant, was able purchase and install of approximately 120 bleeding control kits on campus.

Learn more about the program, its timeline, and more at the Grant Awards website. The program has been in existence since 1985 and has awarded funds to support many short-term and long-standing traditions at Carolina, all that are intended to enhance the Carolina student experience.
